fdm is a great tool for handling mail.
I'm using it now instead of {fetch, get}mail and procmail.
Here's my fdm.conf.
And here is a script, that I use from cron as well as mutt, to call fdm.
It also creates a logfile, if called with 'log' as 1st parameter: getmail.sh.
Sometimes, when I'm troubleshooting fdm, there's '-vvvv' in the options
variable. Don't do that, unless you are chasing a problem, because
fdm will output tons and TONS of lines, if you do use '-vvvv'.
